Geographical Modesty

Many of my authors are from the Midwest. While not everyone conforms to this, the Midwestern culture discourages rudeness, criticism, and graphic language. This may explain today’s sentence about proximity and geological features:

make several smocked strips and butte the strips up to one another.

Butts may be indelicate, but buttes are just downright inaccurate.
